Rev. Leticia Soto is an author, educator, certified coach, and lead pastor and church planter of Brick City Church in Newark, NJ. I don't know how one could write a 250-page book about a single plant, but Slade did it! Understandably, there's tons of information in there. She explains her personal interest in snowdrops, and gives brief stories about others who also enjoy the plant. There's also some interesting facts, such as one where she explains prices - she states that a single bulb of a rarer snowdrop variety sold for over $500! Overall, a great, informative book with tons of beautiful color pictures. It really is for plant lovers.Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

This book addresses a central problem in computer vision -- how to recover 3-D structure and motion from a collection of 2-D images -- using techniques drawn mainly from linear algebra and matrix theory. Chap 11 is good, but the rest of the book is very heavy on the math and proofs. Many exercises are to prove something, e.g. ...left as an exercise for the reader. Fundamental concepts get drown out by the mathematics.

Although the mathematical info is relevant, the figures to show results come in low quality.

After going through a computer vision class with a very sub-par textbook, I still did not have a good grasp of epipolar geometry and camera calibration. This book gives a very nice treatment of these subjects.

We used this book at Duke University for our graduate course in 3D reconstruction. It is well written, although sometimes the notation is flawed.

After read the first pages of this book, I found it a littlehard to read, It would be a good idea to read first "IntroductoryTechniques for 3-D Computer Vision" and then this book.

I really liked this book. However, I use it for vision issues as they relate to robotics rather than as an introductory text on 3D vision. If a general or introductory textbook on 3D computer vision is what you desire, then you might be better off with "Multiple View Geometry in Computer Vision" by Hartley or my personal favorite, "Introductory Techniques for 3-D Computer Vision" by Trucco and Verri. For individuals studying robotic vision, many parts of this book are useful not only for characterizing vision, but for putting together algorithms and equations that are useful for describing robotic motion in general. For example, chapter two of the book collects equations and algorithms that are very useful in describing forward kinematics. Chapters five through ten cover all of the considerations and algorithms needed to produce a 3D image from a collection of images taken from different viewpoints. Chapter eleven applies this knowledge with sequential instructions on building a 3D image from a group of images. Chapter twelve has a second application that shows how to perform autonomous control of a moving vehicle via video feedback. The appendices have some very good information on linear algebra as it relates to computer vision as well as details on the Kalman filter, which is also of great interest to those of us who are interested in computational robotics. Algorithms are blocked out and explained in logical steps throughout the book, and it also has very good exercises at the end of each chapter as well as short examples throughout each chapter, although the notation can sometimes be a little confusing. I would therefore recommend this book especially to those readers who are interested in merging their knowledge of robotics with their knowledge of basic computer vision into creating sophisticated applications. However, this book is by no means an introduction to computer vision. This book views the underlying mathematics as the purpose, and the subject of 3D vision as some application; that makes the book hard do read. I am saying that as a PhD in applied mathematics who knows very well the math in the book. The book can rant on and on with pagefuls of formulas and derivations before explaining in a technical language what that means for 3D vision, instead of stating what the problem is, making the case for what needs to be done, and then using the mathematics to get there.This is a good reference book if you already know the subject and want to deepen your knowledge, rather than something you'd use as an entry point into the field of 3D vision.

This is a poor rewrite of a much better book, Multiple View Geometry in Computer Vision, by Hartley & Zisserman. It fails to clarify any of the more difficult concepts presented by Hartley & Zisserman and is far less complete in the treatment of the subject matter. I can not recommend this book when a better written, more thorough treatment is already available from Hartley & Zisserman.

In terms of content, I give this workbook about a B-. A lot of the clues and puzzles are rather poorly worded and unnecessarily ambiguous, which is not a great introduction to puzzling for a 5 year old. I had to look up a few very misleading answers and I am a 35-year-old lifetime puzzler/logic problem worker. In terms of learning logic progressively, the Mind Benders books cannot be beat! We ordered this because we had completed that one and were looking for more/similar without trying to advance to a grade level beyond my son's understanding. This was just so-so. Further, beware that when purchasing a "good condition" item (no further details were given with my description), that includes items that may have marking on or light writing on every. single. page. This may work okay for a college textbook, but when the marks are un-removable and plentiful, it renders a preschool kids' workbook tedious and frustrating at best, useless at worst. Spend the extra $3-4 to get a new one. It will save everyone time and frustration. The Mind Benders books are only $9.95 new!

We bought this book (used) in great condition, my 5 year old absolutely loves it. It took her a page or two to grasp the concept, but after that she was on a roll. She is currently in kindergarten so we got the k-1 version, which was a great starter book. Overall this book is a great buy for the price and quality of material.

Based off reading a few of these, I can see that it requires some background knowledge for your child to complete. I like the set up and how it requires logical thinking.

My 6-year-old really enjoys this book. We use it in our kindergarten homeschool as part of his critical thinking work. Some of the pages are challenging and some are very simple. It's teaching him to slow down, listen, and work through the questions in a logical way. It's one of his favorite things!

It is a good book. My 5 and a half year old girl likes it. Even though some of the questions are not difficult for her, some can be a little tricky. It is a good exercise for kids to learn to take a moment to read the question carefully and use their reasoning ability to figure out the answer.

I am so glad I bought this!! My son is loving it!! There is a great mix of things that he finds easy and things that challenge him without overwhelming him. It came quickly and in Excellent condition. I am very Happy about this purchase!

This is a wonderful book of poetry. The book contains four collections with collections II and III being the best. Number II contains what Smith calls erasure poems, which I had never read before. These were very affecting as she crafted poetry out of the Declaration of Independence and correspondence between a southern family regarding the sale of slaves. The most profound poem in the book is "I Will Tell You the Truth About This, I Will Tell You All About It." Using words written by African Americans during the Civil War, Smith has written something unforgettably poetic. Number IV is the least cohesive collection but many of her poems in it ("Beatific", "4 1/2") are excellent. "Urban Youth" - "In the '70s, everything shone bright as brass" - I especially loved.I think that many folks greatly under-appreciate poetry in today's world. In this book Tracy K. Smith shows why she is poet laureate of the United States. Highly recommended.

A few weeks ago, I had the amazing privilege of attending an event where Tracy K. Smith came to read her poetry. I had never heard her poetry before, but by the end of the event I was deeply moved, and immediately ordered this book. Smith does captures so well the frustration, heartache, and also hope that is the struggle for equality in America, and her poems helped me to better see where progress has been made as well as where equality is still lacking. Through her words, I was better able to see the racial injustice which persists within the mindset of American society, and I felt more motivated to work to change that mentality. Smith’s poems about environmental responsibility are so poignant as well; the poem in which she compares the Earth to the collective younger sister of humanity hit me hard. It made me think about how vulnerable our world is, and how I would feel if my own little sister were taken advantage of and hurt by others.Overall, I highly recommend this collection of poetry for anyone looking to read writing that is both beautiful and refreshing. Smith is such a talented poet, and while hearing her perform live is of course the best option, her voice still comes through strong in her written poetry. Before reading this collection, I wasn’t really interested in reading new poetry, but this book alone has made me change my mind. Tracy K. Smith is a living testament to the fact that great poetry is not just a thing of the past, but that it has an important place in modern literature as well.

There are a couple of histories of bridge from the origins in the Twenties and Thirties to some time in the Sixties and Seventies. _The Walk of the Oyster_ covers this ground with humor and human interest and _The Mad World of Bridge_ does also. When you read them, you benefit from seeing two points of view.Truscott does the same thing for a later period, although he covers the early years also. There's not a ton of humor here and the point of view is that of Truscott. We get his viewpoint on several controversial situations. I don't say he's wrong but it will be nice when someone comes out with a different view of the period.Still, it's a fine book with many useful and interesting hands. I often give a number of stars for a book I reviewed and wish I could give an additional half star or half a star less (or no stars at all for a few books) but this is a solid four. No fractions or adjustments.

If you like bridge, you'll probably like this account of its development. The author is a bit stiff-sounding, but he was certainly involved in much of the bridge that happened in the second half of the 20th century. Some nice stories, would have like a bit more of the scenery and what it's really like to be a bridge professional.

Very good book. A major problem are the pages where applications are discussed. Black type on a shaded page is difficult to read. More ink wrecked a great book

It starts at the very beginning and takes you through all the great players and dark tales - like cheating. There are interesting hands to play and better play tips. The bridge game that saved an American war ship is amazing. Highly recommended for all players.

Returning to Korea, Brady revisits some of the places where he fought as a Marine platoon commander. Fellow Marines, from "the Skipper" (the company commander, the late Rhode Island governor and senator John Chaffee) on down, appear in their old age, and in their youth when they faced the Chinese with everything from artillery to bayonets. Brady's latest on the Korean War takes its title from Bill Clinton's description of North Korea, which Brady looked into from the DMZ from Hill 749, which his company had assaulted in 1951, when he revisited South Korea. The place lived up to the description, although some things had changed. His escorts now included women officers, and Seoul was a mass of skyscrapers rather than of rubble. The book shifts back and forth from historical to contemporary scenes somewhat jerkily; on the whole, the historical passages are vivider, with their depictions of World War I-style trench warfare making a comeback and the Chinese proving themselves proficient, persistent opponents. The contemporary scenes become most eloquent when Brady pays tribute to old comrades, including the late Senator John Chaffee of Rhode Island, who commanded Brady's company. Marines tend to wax eloquent when saying farewell to fellow marines; Brady, a polished writer even under ordinary circumstances, is no exception. Roland GreenCopyright © American Library Association. As a previous reviewer I thought that Brady's book would be more of a focus on the DMZ and perhaps show some insight into "the scariest place." I did enjoy his war time reminiscences but that wasn't why I purchased his book. I didn't particularly care for his 'how he belatedly was awarded the Bronze Star,' and chumming around with colonels and generals at galas and such as it sounded like 'how great I am after all.' Oh, and by the way, Senator Chafee was my CO. I got tired of Mr. Brady selling his earlier pub,"The Marines of Autumn" (which is a fine read) but in particular I did not like him pimping (perhaps a bit too strong) his "The Coldest War." There are sections of the book where he cites this book seemingly every other page. After awhile I started to feel a bit sorry for Mr. Brady which is too bad as I'm sure that he was a fine officer for his Marines of Dog Company. It's an ok book for what it is but it really isn't about "the scariest place."

Brady is a great writer. This is basically like a recorded personal conversation with him. He has a very relaxed, easy to stay with style - even when discussing the life-threatening parts. And - he obviously knows what he's talking about!

Well done. Just missed Korea myself and appreciated Brady's very personal remembrances.

Brady talks about the individual battles he fought in and remembrances of those who were his combat brothers. I would probably feel the same way after a traumatic life in combat. Brady had had some good books (both fiction and historical) about the Marine Corp and the Korean War. This is an OK read, but read his personal remembrances of the Korean War and both books are paired well.A nice reminder of our forgotten war and those who fought it

I didn’t read the description of this one before I read it. I just saw a reference to someone reading a book by Lorelei James and figured I’d give it a try. I figured it was a romance novel and there were cowboys, but that’s about all that I thought about it. I’m not particularly into cowboys, although I don’t mind country music and I live in a rural area.In other words, I did not know what I was getting into and I had very few preconceived notions.Wow.This book is erotic. There’s lots of sex. For me, this is a good thing, but I wasn’t expecting it. I was expecting it to be more on the romance novel of the spectrum. But it’s squarely in the erotica section.As in the threesome and foursome erotica section.So, once I realized what I was reading (and I’m no prude), I thought that the book was great. I was just surprised because it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. But it’s well-written, I liked the characters and the story, and the brawny, hot, cowboys and wise women.A part that made me laugh was the description of their trip to a grocery store:“She loaded up on fresh fruit, a few veggies. Whole-grain cereal and bread. Lunch meat. Diet soda. And canned soup.Colby’s contribution to the cart was an extra large box of condoms, four cans of Skoal and a case of Bud Light.”That pretty much explains their characters.This book belongs in the pleasure section of the library, perhaps the guilty pleasure section, although I’m not sure I believe that pleasures need to be guilty. I want to read more by this author.

This book is unbelievably hot! Channing is a total city girl who wants to escape her life so she decides to follow the rodeo circuit. She is all about living a life this summer that is care free and experiencing life. Colby is all about helping her out with that. He is drawn to her. So when her travel plans fell through he offers to bring her along with him and his 3 other travel buddies. She has to do whatever they want…. Yes WHATEVER!!! Since these 3 guys are hot and she wants to experience different things, she sees this as the opportunity of a lifetime! Even though he started out sharing her with Trevor and Edgard, he quickly becomes quite possessive of her. At least as far as other men are concerned. Trevor and Edgard pretty much know from the beginning who she really belongs to.There were some really hot scenes with all of them together. Then there are some SUPER hot scenes with just Channing and Colby. Of course the more time they spend together, the closer they get. Channing finds out some interesting things about the other guys they are traveling with and makes friends with the other wives and girlfriends. They relationship with Channing and Colby develops into something neither of them thought they were ready for.This story has a great HEA ending! Colby even has a very cheesy romantic line at the ends that always make me smile like a goober and cry at the same time.

This book was my introduction to Lorelei James writing, and I have been hooked ever since!!Completely different love story than I was use to at the time, but it was great. Loved Channing, her strength and openness to explore herself and her sexuality. And Colby!! Holy Hell talk about cowboy hotness!! Did I mentioned I am now hooked on cowboy books, especially rodeo cowboys.... especially not knowing anything about Rodeos!! Colby is one hell of an introduction into the McKay Family, him and this book came busting out with sexual hotness right out the gate, kind of like bull riding!! And boy what an intro too!!! Be prepared for a lot of hot sexy scenes.... variety is the spice of life and this book has the spice!!Even with all of that spicy hotness going on, there is a great underlying love story happening too, which had me hooked and why I am now a huge Lorelei James fan of her writing!!

After college and before starting a job her parents secured for her, she decides to go on a rebellious little trip. She wants to let loose and find her wild side. Where does she go you ask? She decides to follow the rodeo circuit of course!Colby is a hot sexy bull riding cowboy. Colby travels the rodeo circuit with his best friend Trevor and friend Edgard. He's a big ladies man with the buckle bunnies. Channing catches Colby's eye. After Channing is left behind by her initial rodeo man, Colby comes to the rescue. She agrees to an all out week of sexual exploration with him and his travel mates. Yeehaw! And that right there is one interesting way to start a love story.There are plenty of books with tons of sex and no story to go along with it. James manages to attach a decent story to this one. It would have been a 5 star read if we got a bit more history on Channing. How did she get to the rodeo? Where did the idea come from? I also would have loved a nice epilogue. But it is what it is. This book is steamy HOT and it pretty much has every different combination of menage, some roping, spanking - you name it! You probably won't want to read this one sitting at a coffee shop if you know what I mean..The book is a first in series. The rest of the series follows Colby's family.
