My daughter is 5 and has had severe anxiety, particularly related to separating from me. We've seen experts since she was 2.5 as the anxiety was so bad it was affecting her sleep. She'd wake hourly (and scream, panicked) to make sure I was still next to her. My daughter is visually impaired and has sensory processing issues. She was legally blind for the first couple of years of her life and relied on me for navigation and to feel comfortable in the world (with her separate sensory issues). Not an easy case. We had kindergarten assessments coming up and a mom I met whose daughter also suffers from anxiety recommended this book. It's helped us far more than any therapist/doctor/child educator we spoke with and it helped us within weeks. Seriously, my daughter has NEVER gone to a friend's house alone, or to a class alone (save for preschool - but I went with her for months while we desensitized her to it) or even let me go to the bathroom alone at good friends' homes. Yet last weekend she went and did two kindergarten assessments with new teachers and new kids in new places WITHOUT ME for over an hour each time and she came out BEAMING! In our case my daughter was scared I'd "disappear" and I really needed to see this from her perspective. Instead of saying there was no need to worry about that, I loved her, of course I'd be back, I really thought about it and realized if I thought she might disappear if she went to a particular place, of course I'd NEVER let her go. I'd be terrified just like she is! I conveyed this to her and told her Daddy wouldn't let me go places if I thought I might disappear, my parents wouldn't, my friends wouldn't. Also to really test the matter, for a whole week, I tried disappearing with her assistance, using magic words, etc. It never worked. So I suggested even though she worries I might, maybe she doesn't need to believe those worries.I also pretended I was very worried she might leave me and go to the North Pole. Dr Cohen teaches you to empower the child and to make it fun. And we practiced being a little bit scared so she learned that just because you might feel a little unnerved it doesn't mean everything is going to get worse. This is keeping your child at their edge.I feel like no matter what your situation, if your child is anxious, there will be information and ideas to help in this book. You do have to figure out how to adapt tactics and strategies to your family/situation...but that's the playful part and it's honestly fun. With mind blowing results. As all the kids went off with the teachers and my daughter went with them, (with NO apparent anxiety at the second school), I wanted to jump up and down with amazement. Dr Cohen, you have changed our lives and I'm telling EVERYONE about your book. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I would say this book is more for mild to moderate anxiety. My daughter has severe anxiety. I'm aware of the tools in this book and it isn't at the level we need.

I read and listened to this book cover to cover. Even though I myself have anxiety I was at a complete loss how to deal with my daughter's crying and angry outbursts at going to bed. Reading the book gave me insight into what we were doing wrong and now hopefully through love and acceptance I can better guide her inner strength to come out. Highly recommend.

Not as diverse with the drawing choices as I was hoping for, but still enjoyable. It had some great ideas, but wish there was instruction on how to do the drawings free hand.

I am not an artist and I have no idea with zen drawing but I was curious with this book and read it. I have learned a lot from this book and I know I can share it with my daughter which is an artist.

This is an absolute waste of money. I should've listened to the other reviewers that said not to waste time with this one. The cover is very pretty, though, but inside has nothing of value. The author goes over and over about the therapeutic value of coloring. Hello! I already know that. Tell me something else. Seriously, don't bother with this "book."

Nice sampling ebook. Even though there are no how-tos, I enjoyed the author's take on zentangling. Tangling seems to be more than doodling because there is more intentional patterning which creates complex optical illusions, and the author explains this more than what I've read so far. Some folks want publications that just instruct, but I kinda like the whys behind the hows. If you are looking for instructions, you might not like this publication. But, if you want more background about the zentangle process, then this book is impressive. Good work Mcadams!

I have been sick quite a bit lately, and often look for something to spend time on while I am not able to be active. "Zen" doodling is creative and calming. I like how this book starts with just getting me started on random doodles, and then goes into how to introduce more complex patterns and shapes and shadows into my designs, the designs can become truly beautiful, and it is such a relaxing hobby. I am really enjoying this.

If your interested in Zentangle or Zendoodling, this book will be a big help. It explains how to get started, where to search for ideas, and gives you the pros and cons about all the different tools that can be used. You'll also learn about adding color to your designs, and all the different ways to use your artwork. Enjoyed the book and will be using it as a review reference while creating my own artwork.

It was a nice definition and interesting read but the illustrations were too small to copy or learn the steps to achieve the pattern. Just not quite what I was looking for.

This book is very informative and contains great information for beginners on drawing and how to make great patterns. Not only that this book is well-written but also contains nice and great images on the different patterns and designs you will surely love.

It is a shame that a lot of the history of SOG has been lost and I wish that the author had published the name of the General that ordered the after action reports destroyed. I also commend the author, who in his eighties, spent several years gathering the material when others declined. I read the book on my iPad, and the book would probably have been better in hard copy.There were numerous spelling errors and editing mistakes, and some of the information was repeated two or three times, but that shouldn't take away from the heroic actions of the SOG warriors. I also recommend John Plaster's books which are very informative also. As a former LRRP with the 4th ID in Vietnam(68-69), I have great appreciation for what the men went through, across the line.

This book, by political design, has been too long in arriving for the public sector, but no fault to the author. The amount of detail and the number of SOG members dying off, it has been hard to re-account what went on in CCS. Since SOG destroyed all of its afteraction reports, this may be one of the few remaining books detailing what really happened in CCS.The book is extremely accurate, as precise as human memory allows, and it engages in divulging no secrets, yet the text remains truly authentic. It is a historical classic, indeed. Thank you all for all of your efforts writing this history of MACVSOG, CCS.A.Bodhi

I loved this book. The research the author has done into the history of this organization is amazing. The book is basically a chronological history of the missions CCS ran during its existence. Drawing on first hand accounts from team members, aviators and others the book gives a brief summary of each know mission. In addition to the above mentioned accounts award narratives are used if no other information is available. If no information is available the author will state as much. Considering almost all of MACV-SOG records were destroyed after the war this book is a true labor of love. If you are interested in Special Operations or the Vietnam Conflict this is must have history.

I bought this to learn more about my Dad who is now deceased. It wasn't until recently that we learned about this part of his life as he never mentioned or spoke of it. It was fascinating to read a little bit about him, but also to read the other stories and accounts. The way it was written It gives a great perspective and adds a different depth than most books. Thank you for writing this and helping to share what you all went through. For our family, thank you for shedding a little light on a side of our Dad we never knew about. Humility is an admirable trait, but this really opened our eyes.

Outstanding history of the southern operations of SOG. Most of us had no idea of the things they were doing. I served in I Corps from 69-79 and used to watch these guys coming out of the jungle and mountains on a string swinging in the breeze at 1200’. Intestinal fortitude some of us wish we had.

This is a book/work which should be in the library of every serious student of the Vietnam War. Extremely comprehensive.

We knew they were where they weren't supposed to be but now have a precise description of what was going on for these brave men. It had to take years to get all that information gathered. I am thankful to Fred Lindsey and all the named and unnamed heros.

I got this book after reading through several different ones including the assigned text for my class and this is one of the best books on this subject that I've read so far. Everything is explained in detail but it's still easy to follow along. The problems at the end of the chapters range from easy - to test your basic understanding, to very complex.What I loved a lot about this book is that it comes with supplemental materials which are downloadable through the book's website. The author provides a solution manual for every single problem in the book, for FREE! Which helped me a lot so that I could check my work and make sure that the problems were solved correctly. There are also simulations and computer programs that you can run on MATLAB and the book reminds you when there is a simulation or program available for that section.I really recommend this book for those who are self studying because everything is explained clearly and thoroughly, and for those who have to a class on EM as well.The only thing about this book could be that it is quite big (8.4 x 2.4 x 11 inches, according to the product description), but I myself don't have a problem carrying it around. If size is a problem though, then you can buy the digital version instead.

This book takes ten words to say what could be said in three. Unfortunately there have been errors found in its contents and it does not seem to contain practical uses for all the theory that it has. If you are interested in learning about wireless communication and effects of fields, I would look for something that has more applicable information.

A great textbook with clear and comprehensive exposition and examples. However, the book is riddled with typos, usually benign but sometimes confusing and frustrating. There is at least one instance (p. 153) where a key formula contains an equals sign where there should be a minus sign--a vital error!! Even worse, I have also seen some mistakes in the answer key and the solution manual (provided for free online, a huge bonus), even some exercises where they give contradictory answers. Luckily, if you compare the two sources you can usually figure out what the correct answer should be. If the publisher can clean up all the errata in this textbook then it will be almost perfect.

Clear concepts, lots of applications, good coverage.

This is one of the worst textbooks I have ever purchased. The author does a horrible job of explaining most concepts and in many areas unnecessarily complicates the subject at hand.

If you're curious about the largest edible fruit native to the United States, Andrew Moore's "Pawpaw: In Search of America's Forgotten Fruit" might be the place to go. The author relates an enormous body of interesting information about the pawpaw, and he writes well. For this I give the book 5 stars.In addition to educating the reader about pawpaws, the author educates us about his personal expeditions in search of specific pawpaw trees or fruit or persons somehow associated with pawpaws, and the tales pall. Minus one half star.The litany of names of persons associated with pawpaws, no matter how tangential to the greater theme, and descriptions of their clothing and facial features reminded me of sitting in a coffee house listening to the endless wails of the evening's folk singer when eventually every song sounds like the last. Minus one and half stars.Net three stars.

Great book on Pawpaw - the only book still in print on the subject that I could find.My brother sent me some pawpaw fruit to try last year and we all enjoyed it so much I wanted to learn more about this Native American fruit.Well everything you ever wanted to know about Pawpaw is in this book. The history of Pawpaw in the US, where to buy seeds, trees, how to plant, where to plant, festivals, growers and shippers of the fruit, etc.I am hoping to get to a Pawpaw festival and possibly grow some in NJ.

Hoo! Who'd ever think someone would write a whole book about PawPaws! It's really an Adventure Story, very well written and absorbing, while also containing a lot of hard-to-find information about our "local" Wonder-Fruit. I even learned how to pollinate my PawPaw trees - I'd have never gotten fruit without reading this! PawPaw BTW is not Papaya; it's often called a "Custard Apple" and it's an apt description. Ask your local Greengrocer to get you some Cherimoyas early next year (usually Feb-May, but it varies a lot) - Cherimoyas grow in Hawaii and California. These close relatives grow further north. Many healing properties as well as being nutritious and indulgently tasty.

This book is so interesting and fun! Bought it for a gift, but after perusing it I realized I had to get my own copy. If you are interested in indigenous fruits of the south, or you remember your granny having a paw paw tree in her back yard -- get this book! Then plant a paw paw in YOUR yard, of course :)

I am really enjoying the book on paw paws and it has inspired me to track down some trees for my yard. Interested and nicely researched, interspersed with the author's travels and experiences.

This book has been an amazing read; it's makes me incredibly sad about American agriculture in its current state, but also so hopeful that we may be able to return to a sustainable permaculture to benefit the people soon. It's thoughtful, meaningful, and tells an amazing story.

This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn how to trade Iron Condors, but it's much more than that, I should know as I trade options on a regular basis. There are a number of things that I really like about the content, this is not just an overview but it actually contains some really practical information on how to make real trades.As a person who has spent thousands of $$ in the past on trading education I only wish I'd found this ebook 5 years ago. It is not often that trading courses will actually get down to real small details of trading, they often give you the big picture and then expect you to fill all the details.What I like the most is the emphasis on the preparation that you need to make before and during trading, something that most traders ignore. This includes the trading plan, trading journal and trading log, if you don't keep these you are never going to be a good trader, I learn't the hard way.I also very much like the actual Iron Condor trading plan presented in the book, again it's not very often that a trader will give out all these details, and for the price, wow I would pay at least 10x for this!.The trading plan is very conservative so trading Iron Condors may not be for everyone if you are the sort of trader that likes action. If that is you you may want to take a look at this product which covers Iron Condors as well as some other option strategies Stock Market Options Trading Education - Iron Condor, Credit Spreads, Calendar Spreads, Calls and Puts, The Greeks, Trade Adjustements, Portfolio Management, Over 24 Hours of VideoThe plan includes how to enter and exit trades, legging in, checklists. I have read many books, and taken at least 3 option training courses. I have been successful at tradingspreads. However in order to truly master this concept one must manage losers. One must know what todo when the trade goes against him. Better yet is to start with odds in your favor when you place the trade.This book was written by a man with knowledge and experience. As I read this book I felt like he had beenwatching me trade. I never traded the indexes and I can see this is a big advantage. His money managementof iron condor trading is outstanding. One thing he could add is the concept of rolling losing trades. I havemastered these by rolling down and out with increased number of contracts: about 2 to one ratio. What I do is keep mypowder dry so when I have a loser I can increase my number of contracts and sell short leg at half of the losingshort leg so I can move the trade out of money or farther out. He made a great point to close the loser and wait and then roll down and out. That move should really help turn a loser around to a winner.The entire drawback to iron condors is multiple small gains with occasion large losers. So if you can managethe losers you have a professional trading model. Let me just confirm one thing everything in this book works.You as a trader need to form a plan and then execute the plan and you will make money. Gavin gives you a simple trading plan, now all you have to do is execute the plan. So if you can follow directions you will make money.

There were many verbal examples, but in addition there should've been many more numerical examples.For example, the Adjustment Section really needed many more numerical examples because of the number of problems one could encounter with an Iron Condor (In the early days on the floor of the CBOE, Iron Condors were called Trapezoids) and for each problem 3 or 4 adjustments are possible.The author lists at least 5 common problems that could be encountered after setting up an Iron Condor.Assuming 4 or 5 possible adjustments for each problem, maybe more depending on time to expiration, change in volatility, size and direction of the underlying's move , etc. .I believe there should be at least 40 or 50 more numerical examples in the book.This is a Kindle book, not printed on paper, so many more additional pages with those numerical examples would not cost anything.I suggest the author add many more pages with many more examples and a more detailed explanation of each adjustment.Add 40 or 50 more examples on adjusting Iron Condors.Reissue the book with the same title but with 2015 on the front.
